"Arn: The Knight Templar" - A Movie Review

Me: Oh, Netflix, how I love thee...
My readers: Can you elaborate?
Me: Yes, I can! Just read on!

In a time of brave knights, powerful queens and treacherous kings, Arn, a skilled swordsman, is sent to war as a Knight Templar, while Cecilia, the love of his life, is imprisoned in a convent.
Recently, thanks to the recommendation of a friend of mine, I discovered a wondrous, magnificent show on Netflix. This show is beautifully titled Arn: The Knight Templar.  >>>>>>
Upon watching the first episode, I was captured. Oh, my, how this show has so enraptured me I could watch it over and over. Not to mention the awesome cover! >>>>>>>>>>>>>
Such beautiful landscapes, characters, and plots, it's next to impossible for this show not to draw one in!
This is actually the first foreign show that I've ever watched, it being Swedish. Ninety percent of the time, the viewer is reading subtitles. However, this does not detract from the visualization. If anything it enhances it, for it allows the dialogue to remain with you for some time.
    Now to the nitty-gritty.

Language - very mild language used infrequently; "h*ll", "cr*p"; one use of the s-word at the end of the series. 3/5
Sexual content - a woman comes to a man and enters his bed, she begins to force herself on him, though this lasts momentarily. No nudity is shown. A man and a woman have sex (nothing but a man's torso and a woman's shoulders is shown) and it is said later that the woman is pregnant. A man is excommunicated for allegedly committing adultery with two women; a woman is sent to a convent for being with a man outside of marriage. 3/5
Violence - Mild. Severed hands, heads, etc... A horse is slain. 2/5
    Scary Images - ^^^ 2/5

All things considered, Arn: The Knight templar is a must see for any lovers of foreign medieval dramas who aren't afraid of a little love or a little blood. And who can forget the cover? :D

5 of 5 stars!

God bless,
Brian

"The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey" - A Movie Review

On December 22, 2012, I made my first trip to see a movie in theater in 3D. That movie was Peter Jackson's adaption of J.R.R. Tolkien's The Hobbit, which was The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey.
The whole experience was simply amazing! The Hobbit has finally made its way to the big screen, and after much effort on the parts of the directors, writers, and actors, the movie did not disappoint. The Hobbit is a visually stunning movie experience, whether you see it in 3D or not, BluRay or DVD.
The character portrayal was simply amazing. I couldn't help but feel giddy when the Wizard Gandalf appeared on screen, for he is such an incredible character, and Ian McKellen portrays him extraordinarily! Bilbo Baggins, Thorin Oakenshield, Gloin, etc... Such amazing and entertaining characters!

The scenery and landscape did not lack depth, and it did not have to put much effort into amazing even the most "anti-fantasy" viewer out there.
The only language that I heard contained was "jaxie", which is a Dwarf's word for "rear-end". The violence definitely lived up to its PG-13 rating, but it was not overwhelming. Battles, severed limbs, gutted ghouls. Peter Jackson did not shy away from scary images either, and Gollum is as scary as ever in this prequel to The Lord of the Rings Trilogy.
The movie did not lack action, neither was it short on intrigue. And the swords were absolutely stunning! I want Glamdring and the Orcrist!
I truly wish that I could go to see The Hobbit once again! And you can be sure that I will be one of the first to pre-order the DVD when it becomes available!
Have you seen The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey yet? What did you think? If not, do you plan to?

5 of 5 stars!

"Tooth Fairy" - A Movie Review

"Dwayne Johnson stars as Derek Thompson, one of the toughest hockey players around - until he's sentenced to one week's hard labor as the world's most unlikely tooth fairy! Even though he must sport frilly wings and learn the magical tricks of the trade from his silver-winged superiors, Derek's determined to do the job his way and prove that he's got what it takes."

First, I'd just like to say that this is one of the most hysterical family comedy movies I have seen in some time!
Dwayne "the Rock" Johnson stars as a cocky, skeptical hockey player who learns that people do need dreams, after all.
The film is rated PG for "mild language, some rude humor, and sports action".
In the way of language, "d*mn it" was used a couple of times, as well as a couple other very mild words.
In the way of action, the hockey games are as action-packed as this movie gets, and I still loved it!
The acting was great, the story was incredible, and the cast was perfect. I will definitely return to this movie in anticipation of more laughs.

FIVE OF FIVE STARS

God bless and if you intend to watch this film, then I have one thing to say, enjoy!

"Thor" - A Movie Review

Yes! I finally got and watched Marvel's Thor. And... I absolutely LOVED it!!!

"Thor is the arrogant first-born son of King Odin of Asgard, and the rightful heir to the throne. When Thor commits an act that could lead to war between Asgard and the Frostgiants, with whom they have a very shaky truce, Odin strips Thor of his powers and banishes him to Earth until he learns humility. On Earth, Thor is found by astrophysicist Jane Foster and her team as they study atmospheric disturbances in New Mexico."

First off, like I said this movie was AMAZING. I loved the story and the cast.
Thor, arrogant war-seeker, learns what it truly means to be humble and respectful.
The acting was exceptional, the language was mild, and the violence was as well.
In the way of language, "d*mn" was used a couple times, as was "Oh, my g*d".
As for violence, it was fairly mild. I would consider it worthy of but a simple PG rating. The Frostgiants' arms would transform into swords of ice, with which they would stab their victims, or slice them. Little to no blood was shown, however. The violence started to grow at the end as the final duel between Loki and Thor progressed, but it remained mild.
I give this movie a 5/5 star review and I fully recommend it to fans of action-packed superhero movies with lots of special effects.

FIVE OF FIVE STARS

God bless and enjoy if you're planning on watching Thor by Marvel!
